I had to stop by quickly to upload this week’s illustration before my self-imposed Friday deadline.
The main idea of the image developed in my head throughout the week, but there was never time to actually draw it out.
Until today.
The topic was “snow”. I wanted to make the snow itself the star of the show, and not get too cute about it.
I quickly drew two versions on a piece of printer paper, chose the better one, and drew it up in Photoshop in about a half hour. It took about as long again to fine-tune a few minor elements.
Done.
I’ve posted it at a smaller size today, because it shows up better like that, due to the whiteness blending into the white background of the blog.
“May your days be merry and bright.”
I love the simplicity of this, yet it has some really interesting patterns in the snow path. The colors are great as well!
Thanks. This one was a very different, more “design-y” approach than my usual drawing style.
Merry Christmas Gabriel.
Wishing you a bright and beautiful Christmas time.

Thanks for the nod! Hope all is well in your world.
A few simple lines and a bit of shading and now you have tunnels in the snow. Looks so easy, but that took a lot of thought and skill. Awesomeness!
Part of what I challenged myself to do with this one is just what you said: get the point across with the fewest possible elements.
Like it Gabriel. We never have snow that deep!
It’s pretty rare… but they got a snowfall like this just a few hours south of St. Paul yesterday. Whoa.
