Blackout Binge or Botanical Burst?

It was one of those formless Saturdays: the kind that just slide by, leaving little to show for the hours spent with your eyes open.  I must have spent a few hours preparing the bathroom wall to be refinished.  Either that, or I let a bored handyman into my house during a mid-day tequila-induced blackout.  One way or the other, there’s about half a wall missing between the commode and the sink.

After dinner, my partner challenged me to a game of Monopoly Slam.  He beat me three out four rounds before calling it quits.  The day was a bit lacking in color, so I thought it would be a good time to give the spotlight to this colorful sketch.

The focus of this one was on the color harmonies: the red-violets contrast with lush greens.  Fresh yellows punctuate the new growth of the plant and the background highlights while the shadows are flooded with purple.  There’s nothing like a warm, purple shadow to lift the spirits!
